Analise Hears her Baby Brother’s Heart Beat
Today was my 5 month appointment and decided to bring my 4 year old daughter, Analise, with me. I want to get her involved with the pregnancy. She has been a little jealous. Every day she questions who our baby is, I think it’s cute, but it’s a sign of her not being
used to the fact that there will be a new baby in the house.
I got off work early today so I picked up Annie before my appointment. She was excited. I got there 20 min early which was a good thing because parking is always hard to find there. On our way up in the elevator, she was asking lots of questions. She asked if the baby was going to come out and if I was getting a shot. She was confused since this was a new experience for her.
We finally got into the Dr’s Office. The waiting room was empty. I was the only patient there which was great because I hate waiting. The nurse called us back and took my blood pressure and my weight. I only gained 2 pounds this month, she said that was good. She then took us back in the room and minutes later the doctor came in.
She was surprised to see Analise there since she was my doctor as well through her pregnancy. Analise weighed 9 pounds at birth and now she is so tiny and skinny, the doctor said she thought she would be bigger. She showed Analise the heart doppler and let her hold it and explained to her that we would be listening to the baby’s heartbeat.
It took a few minutes because the baby was moving around so much. After a few tries, we found it and Analise was so amazed, she had a big smile on her face. I am so happy I got to bring her along and share that with her. All sounded great so I will be going back next month for my next check up. I should be having another ultrasound in about 2 weeks. I’m excited for that. Any chance we get to see the baby is always fun and to see so how much he has grown since our last appointment.
Here is a picture of Analise as she sits on the chair scared, waiting for the doctor to come in.
