Babies First Ear Infection
You know the saying “Time flys when your having fun”. The same goes for babies, Time sure flys for them, They just grow so fast, You are enjoying them and having so much fun seeing them smile and laugh until one day all of a sudden they get sick for the first time and that’s when You begin to feel sad and hopeless at times. You remember how it felt when you were sick as a child and even an adult and how awful it felt and your thinking that your baby must be feeling pretty miserable. You want to do everything you can to help them feel better, but besides giving them their meds, there isn’t a whole lot you can do. Some of the things you can do are, Have them sleep almost sitting up, at an angel. Lay them on two pillows proped up but you need to watch them so they wont roll off. Some people say they put them in their car seat or bouncy chair. That works for babies who are 3 to 4 months but around 6 months, Its a little uncomfy and they cry to get out. The other thing you have to do when their nose is stuffy is get one of those blue suction bulbs and suck out the mucus, Its a bit disgusting but worth it to make them feel better. Also try to let your baby get as much rest as possible during this time, Just like you would need your rest when you are sick. But the best thing is to just be there for them.
Signs of an Autistic Baby
Autism very common these days, there are still many studies being done on what causes it or how it has happened. Luckily for me I have a healthy baby, but I work with two autistic childrren and it is very sad to see how behind they are and dont act the same as the other children in the class. Here are some signs to look for in babies to find out if they may be autistic.
What are the signs of autism in your child? How does one detect autism?
If your child is experiencing difficulty in the following aspects, it would be helpful to consult a doctor or an expert:
Some babies can actually manifest signs of autism
An autistic baby does not respond to your presence – will not make eye contact with you and appears to be more interested in staring at some other moving inanimate object. Babies that do not look in the eye can be displaying signs of autism, especially if they would rather stare at moving mechanical objects or parts of it.
Ever wonder about Baby Songs?
Ive been wondering about that song “Rock a bye baby” and where it came from because they lyrics are so crazy when it says, “on the tree top” or “down will come baby, cradle and all” To me it sounds a little crazy of a song like why would you rock your baby in a tree first of all and second of all why would you want the baby to fall down from the tree and why would the cradle even be in a tree or how would the cradle get up there? Well I did a little research and here is the info I found. Pretty interesting how things come about and how long they have been around.
“Various theories exist to explain the origins of the rhyme.
One identifies it as the first poem written on American soil, suggesting it may date from the 17th century and have been written by an English immigrant who observed the way native-American women rocked their babies in birch-bark cradles, which were suspended from the branches of trees, allowing the wind to rock the baby to sleep.A difficulty with this theory is that the words appeared in print first in England in c. 1765.
Everyone loves babies
So last night we went out to take our family Christmas pictures and so many people kept coming up to us to tell us how cute our baby was. Its so funny how having a baby brings you so much attention. Everyone is always so nice and happy to see a baby. Most people say the same thing, first they ask you how old is your baby and then they tell you to enjoy him because they grow so fast. I definitely notice that babies do grow so fast. And everyone loves to see a baby smile so they will try to play or talk to your baby to get him to smile. Its nice but makes you wonder how or why a baby can bring people together.
Luke discusses robots
I love my five year old son. What a great age this is. Today ,as we drove to school, he decided to tell me what robots do. “Mom, robots do this” and he proceeded to move his arms up and down like a robot. So I engaged. “Luke, can robots do this?” and i moved my head side to side. “Mom, robots can do this” and he moved his shoulders up and down. So I put the radio on 97.1. It plays dance music. So I said to him, “Luke, can robots dance? Show me how!” Then we proceeded to robot dance our way to school. I didn’t care about the people in other cars looking at us. I smiled to myself as I robot danced Akon and Lady Gaga. And in my “mommy mirror” I can see my son dancing like a robot in his booster seat in the back and I know that life is good. My son keeps me young. He teaches me every day to use my imagination and have fun. He teaches me to take my super hero powers and use them for good.
Putting baby to sleep
Sometimes its easy and sometimes its hard. Most new moms like myself might find it hard in the beginning to tell why their baby is crying. Your last guess may be that he is tired. Well as for myself that’s how it was. I didn’t realize he would cry because he was so tired and wasn’t letting himself go to sleep. Its funny how babies try so hard to stay awake when they are tired. Us adults wish we could just go to sleep at any time of the day.
Here are a few ways that work for me when putting my baby to sleep. Sometimes I will just hold him close to me and pat his back until he falls asleep. Another way is I will breast feed him laying down until he falls asleep and that way he is already laying down and ready to stay asleep. The best and most easy way though is holding the baby and walking around or just sitting in a chair and rocking him to sleep, but you have to hold him for at least twenty minutes until you decide to put him down to sleep on his own or he will just wake right back up.
Breast Feeding Baby
While I was pregnant I kept hearing how breast feeding is so much better for the baby. Now that I am finally a mom and am breast feeding my baby here are my thoughts on it.
I feel in the beginning of breast feeding, its hard, it hurts alot and its painful but that goes away quickly within two weeks. I do like breast feeding because it is alot easier when you are at home, you can just grab the baby and put him right on and he will get his food. But I am finding out that in public its alot harder and seems alot easier to give the baby a bottle.
Another thing I have noticed is when I give the baby formula, he seems to sleep better and it holds him over for a lot longer. But then when I breastfeed him, he falls asleep on me and is a bit easier to put him to sleep. So Id say they both have good and bad points. I think its a good idea to breast feed and give formula. That way you can choose if one time you feel like giving him a bottle or not.
Learning to sleep longer
It seems like my baby is really sleeping longer through the nights now. He only wakes up maybe twice during the whole night. But the only problem now is that the only reason I think he is sleeping better and longer is because he is sleeping next to me the whole night. I feed him in bed and then he just falls asleep next to me. If I try putting him in his bassinet after he eats he starts moving around and making noises and wakes up within five minutes. I think its ok for now though because he is still little and probably needs to know his parents are there for him. I am just glad he is sleeping longer. The only times he seems to wake up and not go back to sleep is when he sleeps forever during the day, so I try not to let him sleep too much during the day but of course I cant help that because he does need to nap.
They grow so fast
I cant believe in a few short weeks my baby will already be two months old. I cant even believe that he is already one month old. Time really does go by fast. next week it will already be time for him to get his shots. I am sort of afraid for him because for one thing I know he will start crying alot and then I don’t know how its going to make him feel for the next few days after that. I just hope he will be ok. Hes such a cute baby. Its so funny because he laughs in his sleep but not when hes awake. I have been wondering why that is.
Mommy and Me
My little boy is growing so fast. He is already one month old. I cant believe its been one month
since I was in the hospital. It seems like just yesterday that I was giving birth to him. My favorite time that we spend together is in the Morning from about 7 to 10am. We just cuddle together in bed and he sleeps really well with me. I feed him while we are laying next to each other and we both just fall asleep, then when hes done feeding he rests his head on my chest. Its the cutest thing ever. I can tell he falls asleep really well when hes next to me. The weird thing is he seems to only do this in the morning. One thing I found out about breastfeeding is that just because one breast is bigger than the other doesn’t mean it has more milk because when I was feeding him on the larger side he started screaming so I had to switch him and then he was happy again. My favorite time with him is our morning time together.
